Samvedna Care Team along with Helpage India conducted a smart phones workshop for the Senior Citizens Association of an apartment block in Rohini Sector 13, New Delhi. Our team taught seniors online payment transactions, WhatsApp and Facebook and answered their queries about these topics. The program started at 11:30 am with a brief introduction about Helpage and Samvedna Care.
Seniors shared their fear and concerns about online transactions before the session. Samvedna speakers Abdul Basit and Samiya Iqbal with the help of a senior friendly presentation and simple examples talked about various online transactions. Utility bill payment, getting e-bills via email and modes of online payment were topics of interest for senior citizens. A query session and quick revision marked the end of the topic.
After a 10 minute tea break, we started the session on Facebook and WhatsApp. The participants were divided into 3 groups of 8-10 people each. One person from Samvedna was sitting with each group and resolved all the doubts regarding social media phenomena Facebook and WhatsApp. Everyone’s individual queries were taken up and resolved. Many seniors created Facebook accounts and sent request to their children and grandchildren!
Queries regarding WhatsApp groups, broadcast messages, sharing pictures and deleting chats were also addressed. Senior citizens shared positive feedback about the session and requested us to organize such sessions frequently. Mr. Shekaran from Helpage assured seniors that more such sessions would be conducted in near future by Samvedna Care. At the end, we took group pictures and ended with some chit chat over refreshments.
